Please see my post on Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve – Al Maha (Marriott Bonvoy Luxury Desert Resort & Spa) if you are interested about this resort and spa. As part of one of our activities, we chose a desert sunset activity. We met at the main lobby and were taken by a jeep to the tall dunes within the desert. There was a table that the resort had decorated and contained various fruits and drinks.
The views were spectacular. Have I seen many great sunsets? Yes! This was another great sunset to add to my list of beautiful places and sunsets. It’s funny how depending on where you are how the sunsets may have different colors. High above the desert, the sun sets in beautiful tones of yellow and gold.
The dunes were very high and was quite the hike to get to the top of the dune. One of the things I loved about this desert is the waves in the sand. I took the time to honor living family members and memorized family members that had passed by writing their names within the grains of sand on the dune. After we spent an hour or so in the desert, enjoying all its beauty from the sunset to the drinks to the camels that others chose to ride, we headed back to the resort to have dinner under the desert stars.
I learned in elementary school that you could differentiate the spelling between desert and dessert by the analogy that you want to get out of the desert quickly while you would want to linger on with a dessert – therefore one ‘s’ in desert and two for dessert. Even though a great analogy for spelling I have to say, “Oh, how the desert fills my soul and feel so physically close to God. How I want to linger just a little longer.”
