The Campbell’s Covered Bridge was built in 1909 and is the last extant covered bridge in SC. The bridge was built by Charles Irwin Willis and was named for Alexander Lafayette Cambell, who owned and operated a grist mill in this location for many years. The bridge measures 35 feet long and 12 feet wide. It is an excellent example of four-span Howe truss, featuring diagonal timbers and vertical iron rods.
This bridge is located in near Gowensville, SC and crosses Beaverdam Creek off Pleasant Hill Road.
This location is a great road trip stop and great for kids. There is opportunity to walk on the bridge, play by the creek or just an opportunity for a great location to picnic.
